Girls Gone Bad On The Dance Floor minimix

I'm sharing with you this minimix I originally posted in my old blog last year.  I’m pretty sure the ladies who are gonna read this will surely love this one. I titled the mini mix as ‘Girls Gone Bad On The Dance Floor’. The set features dance tracks of some of the best contemporary female solo artists or girl groups . I came up with this compilation after checking my medley/mini mix collection that I haven’t checked out for a while. I stumbled a mini mix (properly called medley) done by Mastermix ( a UK based remix service company) titled ‘The Hen Night Medley’ which is made up of mainly 70’s songs. For those unfamiliar to the term hen night, it’s basically the female counterpart of stag night, which us pinoys are more familiar to.The said medley only ran for 12 minutes . I thought that the concept is nice and well thought. And has inspired me to come up with a relatively similar style though not just intended for a particular occasion. I think the ladies can play this whilst preparing for a big night out, while exercising, or even when doing household chores. Ladies, just a small reminder though, because it’s a mini mix, you might complain that it’s bitin. The entire mix only clocks to 28 minutes and 43 seconds.   So ladies, if you wanna start getting bad… start clicking the link below… ;-)

Lady Gaga Hit Mix

Here's my Sunday treat for all of you...a simple hitmix of Lady Gaga which I created last October 2009.  I tried to squeeze her hits under 20 minutes. I thought of having this mix so that my wife and I will stop flicking the ipod for her songs (LOL). I might update this mix as a lot of her songs became hits since I made this. Anyways, just enjoy the music of her royal weirdness...

Here’s the track listing:

Love Game (part 1)
Paparazzi

Wave In Motion –a retrospect mix

Retrospect       (noun) - contemplation of the past; a survey of past time, events, etc

(verb :used without object)- to look back in thought; refer back (often fol. by to)

(verb :used with object)- to look back upon; contemplate retrospectively

(Idiom)- in retrospect, in looking back on past events; upon reflection

It was the year 1988, when my tatay brought home an imported cassette tape which contained the best music of that year and all done in one massive mix. I can barely remember the title of that tape but I can still vividly recall the experience of listening to it for the first time. The entire mix was done so well that looking back now in retrospect, the anonymous person who set up the mix on both sides of the cassette recording was probably one hell of a dj! That type of mixing can only be heard from the early remix service companies at that time. But now, anyone who has the talent and good imagination and creativity can come up with the same quality of mixing, if not even better with the aid of some proper dj software and equipment. Since then I got hooked to the art of dj-ing. But because dj-ing was an expensive hobby for me at that time (and still is today) , I had to contend myself to watching other dj’s do their stuff. I remember attending parties not to dance but to actually watch and observe the unsung masters of the wheels of steel to learn some techniques and inspiration. My first taste of actually playing in front of a large crowd was in 1990. My father’s friend( rest his soul) had asked me to tag along with them when he found out that I had a good music collection. I was wondering why he wanted me to join them as my music collection at that time was composed of cassette tapes bought in Raon (oh yes, the good old Raon, the electronics centre of the Philippines). I later found out that their main equipments were composed of two cassette decks and a mixer. Bloody high tech! Ha ha ha! I also remember receiving a share of the fee that the organiser of the party paid us. And what did I do with the money if you ask? Of course I bought some more tapes in Raon again. Yehey!

I am not embarrassed at all to share this experience as this was my first taste of a dj's life. This is also how I learned to set up basic sound system and lighting. I also learned the value of taking care of equipments no matter how expensive or cheap they may be. I still practice the same value up to this day whether with my own stuff or with others’. I could go on and on with my stories but I guess that will do for now.

The mix that I’m featuring is the last new wave mix I made. I actually created it sometime in July 2009...to be used as background music while I'm driving. And if you’ll compare the mixing between my ‘New Wave Chronicles’ mixes to this one, you’ll see a big difference as I’ve used some sampling with this and it’s more seamless and neater.

I titled this mix Wave in Motion after New Order’s classic ‘ World in Motion’ which was used as England’s theme song for the 1990 World Cup. As I intentionally made this mix for driving pleasure thus I put ‘wave’ in replacement of ‘world’. So it’s new wave music while in motion .

Here is the track list, the songs featured are either extended or remixed versions. The link is found at the bottom of the page and I still uploaded it via my 4shared account. And as usual it’s in 320 kbps mp3 format.

Music For The Masses Megamix

extracted from wiki:

A megamix is a medley remix containing multiple songs in rapid succession. There may be only one verse or even just a brief chorus of each song used, sometimes in addition to samples of the same or other songs. There may also be some elements of bastard pop in some, though not as much as a mash up]. To unify the songs together smoothly, a single backing beat may be added as background throughout the megamix -although this is not a must-. This backing beat is kept basic so as to simplify mixing and to not compete with the music. These mixes are usually several minutes long at minimum, going up to a half-hour or even more sometimes.

This week’s feature is my first ever attempt to produce a full and proper megamix. I’ve always wanted to do one but due to the time needed to make one, I’ve decided to put it on hold before. And  if my estimation is correct, I finished the megamix in about six hours. I had to do it in separate stages and during my free time only as I discovered that it is a pain in the a**e to make one. IMHO this megamix turned out well but if there are some imperfections, just understand that it’s my first attempt and I’m still trying to master the art of megamixing.

I called this megamix as ‘Music For The Masses’ because all the songs that I selected are songs that the general public or the masses have actually listened to before. Majority of the songs featured are radio friendly. Hopefully, I can turn ‘Music For The Masses’ as a series of megamixes that will feature other genres of music not included in this first volume...if time will permit. But for the meantime,I do hope you all enjoy this megamix as much as I enjoyed doing it.
